Lorne Goldenberg

Lorne Goldenberg is the owner of Strength Tek Fitness & Wellness Consultants. It began operation in November of 1987 as a small company providing services to corporations and athletes. Strength Tek now boasts over 100 full and part time employees who reach out to provide fitness and wellness to over 20,000 people in Ottawa, Toronto, Belleville, and Calgary.

Strength Tek's client list currently includes Nortel (Ottawa, Toronto, Belleville, Calgary), Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Bell Canada, Entrust Technologies, JDS Uniphase, and numerous athletes in the Ottawa area through the Athletic Conditioning Center. Strength Tek has also provided services to Newbridge Networks, Township of Cumberland, and the Riverside Hospital.

Although Strength Tek's main focus has always been corporate fitness, Lorne Goldenberg has been very active in the field of sports performance. He has been the strength and conditioning coach for the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, Ottawa Rough Riders, St.Louis Blues, Chicago Blackhawks, Quebec Nordiques, Colorado Avalanche, Windsor Spitfires, Owen Sound Attack, and the Ottawa 67's. He recently opened up Ottawa's first exclusive training facility for athletes The Athletic Conditioning Center, where a number of NHL, IHL, AHL, OHL, and university hockey players train.

Lorne, who graduated from the University of Ottawa with an honors degree in Physical Education, also is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He is also a Professional Fitness and Lifestyle Consultant (PFLC) through the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology. In August of 1997 he was accredited by the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine, in Active Release Techniques®, which is a soft tissue injury management system. Lorne was one of the first non-medically trained people to receive this accreditation. He has had a numerous articles published in journals and magazines as well as presenting on a regional and national level. He is also the co-editor of the Journal of Hockey Conditioning and Player Development. This journal is distributed worldwide and covers a wide variety of topics concerning conditioning for hockey.

Most recently as a result of his accomplishments in business and the community, Lorne was awarded the Ottawa Business Journal's Forty Under 40 Award.
